Zumba, a dance fitness program is now famed in Kampala and other urban parts of Uganda. The groove workout routine was reportedly created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez during the 1990s. And it has found its way into the hearts of Kampalans.

“Zumba emphasizes moving to the music and having fun regardless of your fitness level.” James Oketch the The City Gym chief instructor said. He explained that a regular exercise routine is one of the surest paths to a longer and healthier life.
According to online sources Zumba is an innovative workout regime which essentially clubs together various dance forms such as calypso, merengue, salsa and even hip hop. Zumba ensures a total body workout in and fun and interactive manner.
As a fitness option, zumba burns fat and calorie through aerobic activity done with interval training in mind. The average person will burn around 600 to 1,000 calories in a Zumba class. Zumba provides a workout for the whole body.
